This level is for absolute beginners

You dont have any Bitcoin but alot of people you know do and you dont know where to start

This is the place for you. Good that you found it. This is level 1!

The goal of level 1: you will confidently be able to make a bitcoin purchase using the Coinbase app.
Make sure you have read everything and go through all the information on this page
We focus on the Coinbase app because this is the most widespread and centralised platform.
With them you you dont have think about it being legal or unsafe. They are the biggest and best platform by regulation in the world.
The only safer way to store your bitcoin is on a device you own yourself. But thats a different lesson for a different day.

Lets go to a computer or to the Appstore on your mobile device and start!

Step 1: Create Your Account

Go to coinbase.com/ Go to your appstore and download Coinbase

Click back "Get Started"

Enter your full legal name

Verify your email address

Add a phone number for 2FA security

Complete ID verification (government-issued ID required)

You’ve successfully created a Coinbase account! This gives you access to buy, sell, and manage cryptocurrencies securely.
The ID verification ensures compliance with regulations and protects your account.

Coinbase mobile
Security Tip: Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in account settings.

Step 2: Add Money to Coinbase

Log in to your Coinbase account. Open the app or website and enter your credentials to access your account.

Click on "Trade" and then "Deposit". This is where you’ll add money to your account.

Select your currency. Choose between USD, EUR, GBP, or whatever your local currency is.

Choose payment method:

Bank transfer (recommended): It’s cheaper, but it might take a little longer.

Debit/credit card (higher fees): It’s faster, but you’ll pay a bit more in fees.

Enter the amount you want to deposit and confirm the transaction.

💰 Your funds should appear in your Coinbase account almost instantly. While Coinbase says it can take 1-5 business days (and that was true back in 2017), these days, deposits usually show up in just a few minutes.

✨ Keep Learning! ✨

Step 3: Buy Bitcoin

Go to "Trade" and then "Buy". This is where you’ll start the process of buying Bitcoin.

Search for Bitcoin (BTC). It’s usually at the top of the list, but you can type it in if needed.

Enter the amount you want to buy in your local currency. For example, you might decide to buy €100 worth of Bitcoin.

Review the fees. Coinbase typically charges 1-3%, so make sure you’re okay with the cost before proceeding.

Click "Preview Buy" to see the details of your purchase. Double-check everything to make sure it’s correct.

Confirm the transaction. Once you’re happy with the details, go ahead and confirm.

Your Bitcoin will be added to your Coinbase wallet almost instantly. You’ll see it in your portfolio, and you can track its value as the market changes.

Remember: Bitcoin prices change constantly. Your purchase will execute at current market price.

✨ Always Try Small. Next Step, Upgrade! ✨

will you gain more then this child? Level up!

The next part explains selling your bitcoin and withdrawing your currency. With me that would be euro`s.
But it can be different for you

Step 4: Selling Bitcoin

You open your Coinbase app and head to the "Trade" section.

You click on "Sell" and select Bitcoin (BTC) from the list of cryptocurrencies.

You choose how much to sell—whether it’s a specific amount or a percentage of your holdings.

You set the destination as "Cash (USD)" (or your local currency, pke EUR or GBP).

After reviewing the details, you confirm the sale.

Step 5: Withdrawing to Bank Account

You navigate to the "Portfolio" section and click on "Withdraw."

You select your linked bank account (the one you set up earlier).

You enter the amount you want to withdraw and confirm the transaction.

Confirm transaction

⏳ The money is sent to your bank account. While Coinbase says it can take 1-3 business days, in most cases,
the funds appear in your account almost instantly.

The Big Picture: You’ve successfully turned your Bitcoin into cash and moved it to your bank account.
It’s a seamless process, and now you can use the money however you like—whether
it’s paying bills, treating yourself, or reinvesting in something new.
